about

Horseback Solids presents nine previously unreleased tracks recorded by members of Brown Cuts Neighbors in 1997. The legendary video, art and music ensemble steps outside their usual funk-pop format with this series of mostly instrumental workouts anchored on the distinct sounds of dual vintage Wurlitzer Electric Pianos. The resulting songs range in style from fake 1970s TV theme music to modal deconstructions that are like free jazz being taken into a back alley and beaten up with a rubber hose. Playing with and then against a variety of popular musical tropes.

The tracks were digitally transferred from the original multi-track tapes at Sonicraft A2DX Lab; and have been freshly mixed and mastered.
